Were you wide awake last night like I was? I didn’t get in bed until almost 1:30 AM, but even then sleep didn’t come quickly like it usually does. After a bit of tossing and reshuffling of covers, my pup Shayne and I found our way to the kitchen for a “this will surely put me to sleep” snack of just a tad of ice cream and a couple of handfuls of chocolate chips.
I love the color blue.
You can see that in my work pretty easily. Most everything has some blue in it somewhere, and when I try really, really hard to stay away from the same old, same old blue, blue, blue – the piece rarely looks right.
I actually love all colors – as long as they are blue.
With alcohol inks, the blue choices all seem to do exactly what I want them to do – look spectacular. They are stunning by themselves, yet blend beautifully with other blues. They are even friendly to other colors – especially greens and roses.
Picture a dragonfly free-floating in the lightness of a summer breeze.
Feel its intensity?
Sense its freedom?
Dragonflies arrive suddenly, suspend themselves unmoving in your eyesight, and tantalize you with colors – blues and greens and blacks – iridescence and shine.
Then, as quickly as they appeared, they are gone.
Dragonflies are good luck. They have been in existence for 3 million years and they still share their beauty with us every summer.
