Art is back – at least some of us artists are back.
We never really left, we’ve just been in our studios creating manically to get through COVID as quietly and nimbly as possible, without totally losing our minds.
Last week was the first hint of normalcy in the art show/festival world. PAWS for People had its first art show/online auction and we were blessed with over 35 artists willing to donate their beautiful work so PAWS could raise a little $ and stay in existence. Then on Friday (and 2 more Fridays to come), the Newark Arts Alliance ran a Trunk Sale in their parking lot so some of us had the opportunity to return to what we know and love – a chance to show our work to people who love to look and sometimes like to buy.
Thank you to the kind and generous folks that visited either PAWS or NAA and said nice things about the art they saw. It feels so good to once again hear from a non-family member, “This is really beautiful,” or “I love the colors in this piece. How did you do this?”
So thank you Newark Arts Alliance and PAWS for People for inviting us back to a bit of normalcy in this still quite strange world we’re living in,
If you know an artist, please go pat them on the back and encourage them to keep on painting, pouring, stitiching, and whatever else they do to keep sane.
It’s good to be back in the game – if only for a little while.
